Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has provided an update on the injury of forward Gabriel Jesus, and it might not be the news that fans were hoping for. The Brazilian international has been out of action since September due to a hamstring injury, and there were hopes that he would make a quick return to the pitch.

However, Arteta has now revealed that he is being cautious with Jesus’ recovery and does not want to rush him back too soon. In a press conference ahead of Arsenal’s Carabao Cup clash against West Ham United, Arteta said telling reporters, “With him, I’m not going to put a [timescale] on it because I did it once and got it totally wrong.”

The Spaniard further added, “We need to be cautious, treat it in the right way, but he is already pushing. He wants to be back as quick as possible and we need him, so that’s great.” These words from the Arsenal boss will surely come as a disappointment to fans who were eagerly waiting for Jesus’ return.

Arsenal are currently in 2nd position on the Premier League table with 24 points in this 2023/24 campaign, and their recent game against Sheffield United at the Emirates Stadium ended in a resounding 5-0 victory for the Gunners. Their next game will be against West Ham United in the Carabao Cup round of 16 at The London Stadium on Saturday.

Although Jesus’ absence will be felt by the team, Arteta will be looking to rotate his squad for the cup game and give some of his key players a much-needed rest. With a busy schedule ahead, it is important for Arsenal to manage their players’ fitness and avoid any further injuries.

As for Gabriel Jesus, the fans will have to wait a little longer to see him back in action. But with Arteta taking a cautious approach, it is clear that the club’s long-term goals and the player’s well-being are of utmost importance.
